How Does Stormwater Harvesting Work if You Live in the United States?

Stormwater harvesting refers to the storage, processing, and reuse of collected rainwater. While methods vary, the end result is always usable water. Often, municipalities enforce stormwater management regulations whenever approving permits for new construction. It’s part of some efforts to mitigate growing water demand in urban areas, too.

Ground Catchment Systems

Installing a ground catchment systems funnels water from one area into storage. When there’s not enough rain, they’re efficient water collection systems. Most of the time, it’s what farmers use when designing livestock watering lots. They’ve made it possible to host livestock on plots where there isn’t rain very often. If the water doesn’t have to be consumed by humans, treatment may be unnecessary. Most livestock can consume untreated rainwater without complications, decreasing the cost of installations. However, it has to go through processing when it’s meant for humans.
